Are you referring to iCloud storage in System Settings? I think the devices you are seeing are iPhones or iPads, not Macs.Update 6

I have no theory on the iCloud entry. Under “”iCloud storage it shows the TM icon and “iCloud backup, two devices. Nothing happens when I click.
Yes the files are on the laptop.
I ran restore 3 times in DFU and the result was always that the firmware was corrupted and told to try again.
Ran revive in DFU with same result.
The repair agent did not mention DFU, just said he ran it with his boot disk.
Wifi would not connect. They did connect with a cable but my perception of the language that showed on the LT is that it would migrate to, not from the LT. Anyway I would prefer to just fetch the files need from the LT.

Okay, I think the repair agent booted the Mini from an external drive and repaired it that way. For DFU and Recovery not to work I think not only was Macintosh HD deleted but also the hidden Recovery partition(s).
You mean Wifi would not connect in the repair store or at home? If you can't connect at home I would call Apple Support again. They are excellent.
I would also talk with Apple Support about moving the files you need on to the Mac Mini. You could also consider keeping those files in iCloud and synced to both devices. You would need to describe what you want to do in more detail if you want to get advice on that.
It sounds as if things are better now so that's good.
