Yes; that was generally my experience and my wife's. She was in the investment business and I was an insider at my company. It wasn't until I was an active director in foreign entities that my financial condition was reported to wider group -- and at that time it was publicly available.I'm not in that industry, but I'd be shocked if your manager was permitted to look at your personal finances held at your firm. That seems like it could open the firm up to liability, especially if there's any whiff that they are doing it to decide who gets a raise. More likely the account would be monitored by a compliance team.In the finance industry we have little financial privacy, but having my direct manager knowing all of my personal finances could impact future raises, promotions, or impact layoff considerations.
