I agree. It's actually a really well implemented system. I very much appreciate the fact I can use a hardware authentication key. If you think the government is spying on you, you should see what a smart TV sends back or your vehicle data recorder or your smart watch.All this Login.gov hate is really funny, they are probably the best example of the government doing something right and arguably better than the commercial venders like Okta. It was a project out of General Services Administration's 18F innovation group.
The IRS has basically forced them to do Identity Verification like ID.me to be supported as login service to access IRS accounts. They then came up with a procedure that was able to use USPS for those folks that didn't want to do it all online and submit the necessary photos/docs: https://www.login.gov/help/verify-your- ... -identity/
I cannot think of a government service that is better run than Login.gov.
