I bait my garage for the occasional mouse that wanders in. Have had no issues with mice during the past 5 years until I essentially stopped baiting inside the garage (spring). Then I found two dead mice. A pest control company was called in to be sure the situation was understood. There was no evidence of mice in the house and once the garage was baited there has been no evidence of mice in the garage. Holes in the garage have been sealed.
However the pest control company also baited outside the foundation of the house. I was told these baits were for the mice and no other animals, However, I've since learned they attract chipmunks and other possible moles / voles, etc. The pest company wants us to keep the outside baits and have them inspect them quarterly, I'm thinking this is an ongoing $ expense that isn't needed as long as the inside baits are kept and the garage is sealed up.
Are outside bait stations appropriate in a situation like the above?
