Personal Finance (Not Investing) • Putting $500+k to work as a source of side-income ?

Already have a great day-job at a megecorp. Over the decades have saved up a lot. Now thinking there must be something I can do instead of just investing in the market? I dabbled in rental properties and airbnb 10+ years ago. I made some money but found it a bit too much work and hassle for the returns.

At one time I had a semi-successful software business maintaining websites for sports clubs. But now most clients have moved on to far more sophisticated sites.

These days I make some side income from selling stuff on ebay. Mostly personal items, but also stuff from my hobbies ( music and sports ). Wondering if there are things I can buy in bulk from somewhere and resell individually here?

I am generally good with technology and IT. Not so good with people. But I am good at judging people. Perhaps micro-lending might be worth pursuing?
Why?

If you have some serious entrepreneurial path that may overshoot your income then yeah, go for it. If it’s just dabbling in stuff, then why waste your time when you can easily invest it in the market and likely turn the $500k into $2 million in 15-25 years with no effort at all.

Again, if this side business has serious upside potential then yeah, you should go for it. Let me start you off by telling you micro lending is not it.
