How do you get into this, please? Thanks.User testing usually comes out to around 50 dollars an hour for the actual work and I actually kind of enjoy it. Basically, they provide you a prototype of a website or app and then get your feedback on what you like, what you don't, what they can improve. Every week there will be a good volume of tests related to investing -- what do you think of this retirement tool, how easy is it to perform an ira rollover or transfer, etc. I've done quite a few for vanguard on useresting.com.
The thing is that you have to apply for a test and 9 times out of 10 you'll get rejected. However, it's quick to apply -- I generally don't apply to ones with a long list of questions -- and you get a good idea of which ones you'll actually have a shot at.
This makes sense for me because I spend a lot of time on line anyway and if anything interesting pops up I'll quick apply for it and so I'm really not going far out of my way. I liked usertesting.com the most, but the last few weeks their extension has been buggy and freezes up midway through the test. Hopefully they will fix this because at this moment it is not good. Other options are intelizoom, user interviews, veracity. Some of these include online focus groups that you schedule (versus doing the test then and there).
I made a little under 5000 last year on various user testing platforms without much effort. If you're in the right demographic group you could make a lot more.
