You're looking at cars seriously into the fun zone. That's fine. I'd love to do the same, also just retired and have about double your savings but no pension and won't take SS for 3 years. Something I would do is look at depreciation. The M4 will depreciate quite a bit. The 911, not so much because between Porsche making limited numbers and them putting cars on ships that sink, for some time they'll hold their value. This is assuming you can get one at MSRP. Other cars to consider might be a Nissan GT-R if you can order one at MSRP. I'd add a Lotus Emira but if they don't come for 2 more years (and they opened ordering 2 years ago), I wouldn't be surprised.
Or go used. If you have any inkling for an EV, the Audi eTron GT has dropped out of the sky used. Here's one Flying Wheels in NH is selling with almost no miles and Craig who owns the place does videos so I know this 2 year old $104k car would be let go for $60k. https://www.flying-wheels.com/details/u ... /101484657
Also Audi has a $30,000 kick back on the RS eTron GT and if you are a Costco member, you get another $5k off. And you can lease using those numbers.
Since you would consider the M4, look into a Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing or CT5-V Blackwing. The 4 is a turbo 6 RWD and is quite fun. The 5 is a supercharged 8 which was in the C7 Z06 Corvette for near 700 HP. And BOTH are available with a manual.
Cars to avoid include the usual, anything Maserati that will drop 50% just driving off the lot, anything with a markup still.
You do have enough for a $150k car. I'd love to get a car but unfortunately with all these years of living below my means, I can't seem to spend because I'm concerned I'll have buyers remorse and just get depressed that I spent my cash.
