Even without moving, the state could change to no income tax or no income tax on retirees. That's one reason that I want a the 5-10 point difference on the federal rate. I'm paying 18% total vs. a conservatively estimated future rate of 22% for just federal taxes (and 28% total assuming current state tax law continues unchanged).Of course no guarantees but may be circumstances forced you to move to another state with different tax rate?
To bolster Cah’s (is he from Boston?) argument the only thing which is 100% certain is today’s tax rate. Everything else is an educated guess. That has to count for something but often is discarded out of hand
