Thanks for all the advice. It's what I expected to hear, but was almost hoping to hear that I was missing something that could be useful.
This kind of sums up how I've been feeling about the advice. I genuinely think this CFP thinks she's looking out for our best interest. She's built a successful career at Ameriprise and believes what she's selling. But being successful at Ameriprise by definition involves selling sub-optimal products. I thought I was getting around this by paying a fee for advice (which has been solid up to now). We've spent a lot of time with her, and she's built up a lot of trust with my husband, so it's hard to do what's necessary...….. this advice is not in your best interests. This advice is harmful to you. (And I completely believe your CFP sincerely and truthfully believes it is good for you). But it isn’t……
