I think that is more like copper than gold unless I have longer tenure. At 5 years total service, that would be like $4k/year with COL increases.You may have struck gold.
If you can work for federal govt for 1 year and get your four years of military service to count for FERS (lots of paperwork and workflow but it can be done) then you would be vested for a pension at age 62. Five years of service is all that is required for the FERS pension to vest. Of course, the pension will be small because it is based on the number of years of service multiplied by salary, but it will still be monthly $ for the rest of your life starting at age 62.
