OP,

I do not have this problem. Aka, I do not count on my bond to beat the inflation.

A) I have total bond index fund in my 3 funds portfolio.

B) I have 10% intermediate term treasury with 10% SmallCapValue as part of my mini-Larry portfolio.

C) 30% of my portfolio is in the Wellington. It is actively managed by the Wellington Fund management.

D) I do not pretend to believe that I am smart enough to actively manage my bond portfolio.

E) It is very simple. It is only hard for smart people.

Thank you! So many authors and posters on this forum love TIPS and sometime make it the entirety of their fixed income.
Good luck to them! I do not count on the bond to beat inflation.
