Actually I’m not so sure about that given that the sock market is up over 20% in the same time period. It probably would have been a wash, had you kept the down payment invested, and avoided mortgage interest, insurance and property taxes.hey folks,
just to close the loop - we purchased SFR in West SJ end of last year for 1.7M. Just refinanced it to 5% 7ARM last week.
Overall it was tough year cash wise so far, but we are supper happy with safe area, great schools, and proximity to main FAANG office.
Accidentally the property prices went up 300K-400K in West SJ since last fall, which is nuts considering fed rates. We would not be able to afford this area if we would have waited for 3-4 months.
But congrats. The “super happy” part is all that really matters.
