Gosh. I'm using an "Aroma" rice cooker that I paid $19.99 on sale. I'm single so not making big batches of rice. It cooks white rice on the "rice" setting. It cooks brown rice and quinioa on the "Grains" setting. I've successfully made hard boiled eggs, and done "layered" kinds of meals - rice, veggies, and a protein (usually tofu or chicken) in it. I've also steamed chinese, korean, japanese "dumplings" in it. I have not been able to cook steel cut oats in it (or any sort of oatmeal).
