I've been RV'ing since 1990. To this day, I have two musts.Ok, lets call it RV'ing. Up to $150k, 26 feet or less (no trailer) . There are a gazillion choices out there, just wondered if anyone here had an RV they really like that might fit the criteria above.
1) I must be comfortable while driving.
I've had a class "C" RV that was basically a Van chassis with added camper. This was the most uncomfortable to drive, with the engine sitting beside your legs. If you can deal with uncomfortable driving, then it may be for you. FYI, class "B" is even worse.
I've also had a couple of class "A" RV's, these are much more comfortable to drive, like sitting in your living room while traveling.
2) I must be comfortable while sleeping.
We have a King size bed at home, and all the queen beds in our RV's have been tight. If you have a high-quality mattress, it can be acceptable, however I find the King-size high-quality mattress the most accommodating. Vacationing in an RV is much more fun when you wake up with a good night's sleep.
Also, the issue I've found with the CLASS A and larger Class C, is that it becomes difficult to drive around once you reach your destination due to setting up camp and breaking down, as well as maneuvering the large vehicle. Most end up pulling a car to get around that issue.
Ten years ago, I decided on a 5th wheel RV and loaded diesel pickup and have never been more comfortable driving and sleeping while traveling and camping. Once you set up camp, you disconnect from the RV and free to roam around in the pickup.
