I stumbled on a group with the interesting(but long) name of "The Bones of J.R. Jones". They or at least lead singer Jonathon Linberry have a really interesting mix of acoustic blues/folk/country. Hard to pin down the genre, I think people may classify the music as "roots music" or Americana(American roots music). Anyway I can't stop listening, this you definitely won't hear on commercial radio(hence it's appeal to me).

This track "Stay Wild" has a very compelling slide guitar riff:

"St. James Bed" has that gritty New Orleans feel with Jonathon on banjo:

Finally, "Keep it Low" with the slide guitar accents again:

Never heard of the group and I am amazed at all the great music that is unknown to me. I hope you enjoy.
Great stuff, novicemoney. I like this guy's sound. I briefly looked around, and can't figure out if this is a band, or just a guy that gave himself a curious stage name. The way he sings St. James Bed reminds me of Nathaniel Rateliff's style.

I love music off the beaten path, too. Keep 'em coming! Wherever it is you keep finding good, interesting music, I appreciate it. I find myself not listening to live radio anymore, for one reason or another. Sometimes I'll put on one of the folk alley streams, but then as soon as a new (to me) tune comes on that really resonates, I'll look up that artist and find an album I like. I surely appreciate listening to the music I grew up on as much as the next guy, but I don't think I could stand listening to the old stuff all the time, no matter how much I like it. Something a little depressing about that. (And there's nothing more depressing than listening to old, overplayed commercial music that I actually never liked.)
I am glad you liked the artist. I am also confused about the personnel in the "group" or rather it is just Mr. Linberry himself. On the the studio recordings you can clearly hear harmony singers, drums and maybe a bass. However most of the live stuff on you tube shows him with at most a drummer. On this video however he is literally a one man band:
