"Sunset Boulevard" (1950)
A washed up film star (Gloria Swanson) lives in a delusional world of fantasy. A down-in-his luck screenwriter (William Holden) has an "arrangement" with her. A well-done portrayal of mental illness and the dark side of Hollywood.
I'm generally not a fan of melodrama -- and Swanson's character was all about melodrama -- but it was well done. It didn't seem to cross the line much.
I especially liked watching Cecil B. DeMille's role in the film. He handled Swanson's character delicately and with kindness, seemed very human.
