Personal Consumer Issues • Street Lights and "Double Power Poles"

State is Ohio.

Curious what laws or rules are in place that require the electric company to maintain street lights mounted out their power poles. I frequently turn in burned out lights and they've been very prompt historically but the last several months have not. The request says they'll respond within 2 days and then fix within 3 additional days, but it's taken as long as 10 days with a reminder just to acknowledge the receipt of the outage. This is outside of when crews were out of state helping with disaster relief.

Secondly, the power company will replace a pole with a new one right next to the old and then cut it above the phone/cable wires. It can stay this way for years. Sometimes the rest of the wires get moved and we just have this extra short pole, with no wires attached to it as all. Curious about any laws or rules for this as well as it's a eyesore.

Googles hasn't helped, any leads or info appreciated. Thanks!
My first thought would be a public ombudsman or the Public Utility Commission. It does depend who actually owns and maintains your electricity network.

However you may have a municipal electricity company? Or as poster urban suggests, the City public works department? That should probably be the first call.
