Personal Finance (Not Investing) • Should we tell charities that they are in our will?

I've heard rumblings that custodians will not reach out to beneficiaries when they are informed an account holder has died nor will they tell anyone who the beneficiaries are. i.e. they simply wait for a beneficiary to contact them to claim their portion.

IF that is all true, how will a charitable organization know to contact the custodian if the charitable organization was never informed they might be a beneficiary?
Does anyone know if the first sentence is true?
Our custodians our family members we completely trust to execute our wishes.
