How about doing the IRA --> 401k now? You probably have time to get it done before the end of the year if you don't delay too long. That will open up the option of restarting the backdoor Roth next year. Just have Vanguard pull the taxable and Roth accounts.
Rolling over the IRA to the 401k can be a tad cumbersome and will likely require mailing a check (see if there's an overnight option to avoid being out of the market too long).
Based on my personal experience, I'd knock that out before moving it to Vanguard. I consolidated a few IRAs in my 401k from various custodians a few years ago. All went smoothly except at Vanguard (lost check, difficult communication).
