Although I consider myself a Boglehead I have also traded in individual stocks for many years. Now that the cost of trading is so low you can essentially "build your own index." And now that I am retired :beer I can fine-tune how much capital gains to take by choosing which stocks to sell.

I used to be of the mind that you should sell a stock if you wouldn't buy it today, but after many years I am more of the belief that you should never sell unless you need the money. I sold lots of things years ago that have since appreciated hugely: Netflix, Apple, and Amazon come to mind.

That said, you have a lot of super speculative stuff like crypto that I would never buy in the first place.
