Personal Finance (Not Investing) • Is DIY replacing a lightswitch/fixtures/thermostat in your own house worth the risks?

One of the reasons that I now have a comfortable retirement is that my Dad indoctrinated me with the concept of "never pay someone else to do something you can do yourself". Replacing light switches, light fixtures, outlets, garbage disposals, faucets, toilets, etc... were all done by me. For the most part, they still are. The limiting thing now tend to be weight. Heavy stuff like toilets, I can't do as well now due to a bad back and wonky knees.
