Personal Investments • Roth conversions from a 403b at TIAA - where to hold Roth?

Were you able to do this using just the TIAA website or did it require talking to TIAA CS and/or filling in forms to be submitted via email? I would like to convert some of my TIAA traditional 403b account to Roth but the online form at TIAA requires that the money to be converted be in a TIAA IRA first.
I couldn't do it online. I had to talk with someone on the phone and they prepared a document for me to e-sign online. It all went pretty smoothly after I realized I needed to call in.
Thanks for the feedback. I talked to 2 TIAA reps today and both said such a conversion could be done online but the system gave me an error when I tried. I tried to create a new TIAA Roth IRA and then do a rollover conversion from my TIAA 403b into the Roth IRA in one session, because they two processes were linked in the TIAA system so you'd think it was possible to do them both.

But the 2nd rep I talked to said it takes a couple business days to create the new TIAA Roth IRA and I can't do a rollover conversion from my traditional 403b or transfer existing 403b Roth dollars into the new Roth IRA until after that time. I guess I'll find out Tuesday if they were telling me the truth or not or if I'll have to get a document as you did to complete the process.
