Make decisions based on data, not stories. The fact that someone you know personally had a bad experience with a Samsung, Toyota, or Apple product should not deter you from buying from that brand.
Anyway, Costco sells a 75" non-OLED Samsung for $700 right now. Princess Peach will look just as pretty on it as on a more expensive tv.It will be a basement tv for general viewing of a variety of things, including Nintendo switch and streaming with a Roku device.
