I measured it at home after it arrived. Those dimensions are accurate. And being a rollaboard 2-wheeler, the wheels don't stick out much. And the handle collapses nearly flush with top of suitcase. So that verbiage is just a standard disclaimer. I just don't think regional jets like CRJ and others can accomodate 22 (or 21)-inch suitcases in their overhead bins, when the cases are arranged perpendicular to the long axis of the fuselage, which is usually how we are told to do it. Parallel to long axis, sure. But then not as many passengers can use the overhead bins at all. I have not flown much, but expect to do it more often now that retired. Where we live, first leg of almost any trip will be a small regional jet, so I've become enamored of my Travelpro tote and checking my suitcase. The tote can easily carry me over for a few days if the suitcase gets lost temporarily.
