If you want to buy a home, I would purchase one. You can easily afford to buy a $500k home. Remember that a home is an investment in that over time, it will go up in value. This is as opposed to say a car which will depreciate and eventually be worth nothing.
That said, there’s nothing wrong with renting if that’s your preference.
