I'm in Mass and looked up my father in law after he passed as DW is personal representative. I do remember that it stated what was needed but the amount was $1 so I didn't go any farther. Call Bill Galvin's office. They seem quite helpful. Also, in Massachusetts, you can go online and find documents from probate most of the time under family law and probate. If it doesn't have a PDF of the will, I suppose you can go to the county courthouse and get a copy of whatever you need.
From a previous relative where DW was the personal rep, the attorney, in her list had a check of FindMassMoney.gov so if the estate was probated and handled by an attorney, I'd expect this is normal course.
And in case you don't know the amount yet, I was able to input everything online without forms to find out how much and from who. So of course, if you find it's $1 like I did, you can abandon it all.
