It doesn't hurt to talk to both an estate attorney and bankruptcy attorney. Ask lots of questions.Can you elaborate on this? By BK do you mean bankruptcy? Why is this not good for the person who will inherit the house equity if the equity is kept but the debt is removed?
When my parents passed, we disallowed all of their unsecured debt in probate. It would not be good for the OP to have their parent go through BK if they pass in a couple of years. The tough part is not knowing their parent’s life expectancy.
