It's fine if they will accept the check as an indirect rollover contribution. I hope they realize that you are not actually rolling over the corrective distribution, you are just completing the original botched rollover to the correct account, your Roth IRA.Hi Alan! i got the excess distribution check from fidelity, and handed it over to the branch office together with the "Certificate" form. The check was Rejected due to the following: the original check deposited into my Rollover IRA is payable to Fidelity, but the excess distribution check i just received is payable to me. They say it was rejected by the computer as the payees for the two checks do not match, and so it's not qualified as a Direct Rollover Contribution. they have reported the issue to their management to see if there is any solution and will let me know Monday. Wondering if there is any solution to get around the issue. Thanks.
Hopefully, they will understand this and be able to override the computer. Do they seem to understand the self cert form?
Also, how much was the check compared to the original Roth 401k rollover check? Did you get the H coded 1099R yet from the 401k plan?
