Personal Finance (Not Investing) • Merchants and card surcharges - are they allowed? Has it changed how you spend?

For small businesses I find tax evasion far more realistic than any of the above. Cash has many costs and disadvantages as well, enough to make credit cards cost competitive. For larger businesses I assume it is mostly interchange.
Merchants can cook the books either way, and cash does leave a footprint. For example, if I spent an extra 20k in cash a month, there would be signs that I have done so, and it would require me to do unusual things that might attract suspicion.
It being possible both ways does not mean that it is not far easier with cash.
