Her funds are custodied at Schwab. But the advisor has authorized access to her account and can initiate trades. I don't think he has done anything fraudulent, but I am uneasy with this and want to take on the advisor role and unwind her positions and get into 3-fund portfolio.
There is danger in taking on this responsibility for someone else. If/when the market sags, and the balances go down, it won't be your fault, but there will be bad feelings, even if unexpressed. This is particularly true if you have siblings that know what's going on. So, tread carefully.
Great points.
If you do decide to fire the advisor, you’ll just need to have her send an email to the advisor canceling the services and then you and she can manage it directly at Schwab. If all the assets are Roth and traditional IRA, there won’t be any ramifications with buying and selling.
Vanguard PAS is only ,35% and more closely aligned with a three fund approach.
