The reason to stay at 5* hotels is if you’re the type to enjoy exceptional personalized service. In a sense that’s really all you’re paying for beyond a 4* hotel. I can remember staying at Ritz Carlton Club Level one time when staff overheard my wife say the afternoon food presentation didn’t really do it for her. Immediately and without hesitation Eddie (I remember his name because he was from our home town even though we were far from home) asked her what she was hungry for and it was brought to her quickly from the kitchen, no cost no fuss. I have similar stories too. Ritz Carlton has a “$2,000 Rule” per day cap on anything that will make a customer exceptionally satisfied and will ensure they’ll come back again.
