Thanks for the tip I will take a look at the next Tbill settlement. I assume the system will prevent me from making purchases if the money is not settled. The account has no margin loan.In most brokerages, maturing treasury funds would settle and get credited to the core account on the day of maturity, usually before 10am Eastern. I know this for a fact at Fidelity.A question is if there is a timing with rolling over a TIP. Let's say you have a 1 year TIP about to mature on 4/15 and you want to purchase another TIP to replace it and the auction for TIP is around 4/15. The TIP redemption probably take a day or two to settle, which means you will miss the auction and have to purchase it on the secondary. Is there some trick around this?
If the auction for next TIPS is on the same date as matured TIPS, you should be able to place the order before 11am on the day of auction. Auction deadline is 11am (at least on Fidelity).
