Dan, crazy idea- if you think scripting to allow import of data will scare off folks, why not make 2 versions each time you update? One "plain Jane" and one with the script that allows data import...
Excel is nice because you can choose to run macros, or not. When I use Excel sheets from trusted sources, I "allow macros". BigFoot's RPM is an example. This has made importing data very easy.
