Forum Issues and Administration • Deleting a thread

Mods can delete an entire thread. If they do so, the thread and all posts in it are just disappeared, with no notice to any who posted in it or was following it. That happened to a thread I was posting in just yesterday.
We don't delete threads. We instead move the thread to a private forum that's only accessible to the moderators. You'll get an error message clicking on the link. From the forum FAQ:
What does "You are not authorized to read this forum." mean?
It means the post or topic has been moved to (or was created on) one of the site's private administrative forums. Threads or posts are usually moved for review of possible violations of forum policy. Note that not every post on a removed topic is necessarily in violation.
Stinky - Your post which disappeared is in that forum. The thread was removed due to a member posting personal information and deleted the post content. There was still too much personal info in that thread and the member requested it be removed. (We will remove threads for privacy concerns, but it's done at our discretion.)
