We have always bought, when available, single story. Just like the layout better. And now we're 60 so planning ahead for no stairs. When we first moved here in 2020 during covid, had to rent 2 story waiting for single story to be built. And discovered another reason to like the single story open space. When things were locked down, the 2 story layout seemed confining and something to escape from. The single story feels like something we could be somewhat more comfortable in if we had to spend all day there. Not wishing for another covid, but, SARS then COVID then .....?
