For those new potential EV owners worried about charging issues, take a hard look at what your actual driving patterns are. I was in the same boat 2 years ago when I purchase the 2023 Bolt EV. I thought I would need a level 2 charger installed but living in an older home required expensive electrical work to be able to pull that off. I decided to live with Level 1 charging
I have a level 2 charger. The issue is slow level 3 charging for longer trips (did you read the original post?). I've done road trips with a Bolt before so this isn't new for me.
This is why we're moving to an Ioniq 5. I'm not happy about it, but the shortcomings of the Bolt seemed fine when the tax credit existed, there was the prospect of a dynamic EV market, and we could upgrade on our timeline sometime in the future. Since that's no longer the case in the US, we're just preemptively moving to the Ioniq. The Bolt is such a great car, and truly all I want is a 2027 Bolt. But.
