Interesting. I'm no trader, but if I were going to trade something, I'm not sure bonds would be what I traded. I can't think of a job that would be much more boring than that. But there are lots of jobs I wouldn't like.I tend to trade corporate bonds more than I invest in them. So, I am not sure whether to agree or disagree here. I do not mind holding long-term corporate bonds (and probably the only ones I buy and hold), but I tend to lean away from holding shorter-term corporates for too long because I do not think the risk is worth it.
Funny how close that is to my chosen asset allocation. 40% US stocks, 20% international stocks, 20% real estate, 10% nominal bonds, 10% TIPS. So clearly I don't think a lot has changed in the last 20 years since I started investing. Between Swensen, Bernstein, and Swedroe I must have been convinced at some point to avoid corporates too because we've never owned any.
