We also tried and soon dropped that show. As you say though many must like it, and it's not so obviously objectively different from various other 'basic cable' style shows which are rarely very good, but some of them grow on you. For example 'Monk' is originally from the same network (USA) and we were somewhat entertained by the whole run. Tony Shalhoub, my opinion of him as comic actor, is the easy answer to why that show is better than Psych but the overall level of quality of production, writing, cast etc is pretty similar. Or 'Suits', again USA, perhaps most famous/infamous now for a cast member becoming a 'royal', but mediocre overall in its prime and quite worn out by the end. Yet we only know that from having watched the whole thing.Psych on Peacock. Comedy. Description from IMBd: "When a novice sleuth convinces the police he has psychic powers, he and his reluctant best friend are hired on as consultants to help solve complicated cases."
In reality he doesn't have psychic powers. He has a photographic memory and a lot of analytic ability.
The premise is interesting, but my wife and I found the main character to be annoying. We watched three episodes thinking they might adjust his personality to something more palatable, but they didn't. It's one of those shows where the main character is brilliant and just about everybody else is a fool. The main character is rude, pushy and otherwise obnoxious.
It should be noted that the series gets high ratings from various sources, so apparently a lot of people like/liked it.
