You ask about experiences in 2025. I haven't had any experiences in 2025 because I got rid of the card in 2023. I would be interested to know whether there is any reason to think that they are any better now. At the time, I directly asked customer service (Elan) whether there were any phone numbers or email addresses on file that weren't mine. They assured me that there weren't, but eventually I got to a place that showed that there were. My memory is a bit hazy now, but I seem to recall that (a) there is a back door to the credit card account (not the main Fidelity login) that they don't tell you about, and that can be hacked, and (b) somebody called them up pretending to be me and got access to the account. When I first called them to report suspicious activity, they assured me that the text I saw was internally generated and nothing to worry about. I loved the 2% but given their (at least at first) clueless response to my inquiry about potential fraud, and apparently being prey to that fraudulent call, I was wary about keeping this account if it is linked to my brokerage. I imagine that Fidelity has safeguards, but still, my experience with Elan didn't inspire confidence.
Another thing, once I canceled the card I lost all access to the history of charges. I don't know how common that is, but for another card that I canceled recently I can still see the record of past transactions.
Maybe they have improved.
