Do not know about the R-32 refrigerant but I had 11 quotes for my three minisplits. The only utility company rebate I have found so far is this: Sign up for the Smart Energy Program through one of our authorized service providers and receive a one-time $75 bill credit.
There is a state TECHClean CA incentive for replacing a gas furnace with a heat pump HVAC. This program may give me $1000 or $2000 of incentives. I do not qualify for the low-income incentives (my pension is too high). There was an AQMD incentive, but that dried up 2 years ago.
I have scheduled one TECHClean-qualified HVAC company for a quote this week. I plan to call a few more companies on Monday. I am focusing on finding HVAC companies that can install equipment with R-32 refrigerant. Goodman? Mitsubishi? Others?
I narrowed them down to the top four. All were Mitsubishi. All with identical 6,000 BTU for two bedrooms. I think the sizes for living room were 12,000 / 15,000 / 18,000.
