Other than passing the legislation upon which the penalties were erroneously based, not at all.How involved were elected officials involved in this?I'm currently wrapping up my own IRS case. They originally said I owed over $400,000 in penalties. It's now down to $150,000. Ultimately they will acknowledge that I owe $0. But it's taken multiple letters, numerous phone calls, and hours and hours of my time. The experience has been Kafkaesque. Not fun.
