Personal Finance (Not Investing) • Advice on naming trustee(s) [Looking for opinions - Experience with Vanguard as a corporate trustee]

Opinions will vary, but my personal thought right now is that Vanguard is not set up to adequately deal with the complexities of an 8 or 9 figure estate. They are aspirational in that business at best, but I'm just not sure that a business who specializes in low cost operations can meet the needs of that asset level or with 2 of 3 children known to be complex not simple. Happy to be proven wrong. Instead of giving #2 son the unknown, low cost solution as the starting point, I'd give him a full service trustee recommended by your attorney to kick things off and then if everything is going smoothly he can move to a different trustee if he wishes.

Hopefully #2 son won't need to be involved for decades but the estate plan is there just in case something happens sooner. He may be willing, but I'd also be very practically minded to set this up so that this runs smoothly if despite his best intentions and efforts he is unable to work with his brothers. I'm a realist not an optimist or pessimist.
