It seems to me that comparing even index Target Funds to some sort of index is impossible given all the variable factors such as
1. US/International/US bond/Foreign bond allocation.
2. Glide path amounts and frequency of applying glide path changes.
3. Changes in any of the above over long periods.
And if you add active management funds, that makes things even more impossible.
