Personal Investments • Yield max ETFs?

If I told you, you could buy the S&P500 and get a guaranteed yield of 11-12% per year (less tax, if any), it's not a bad deal
I expect that the prospectus has the standard caveat that nothing is guaranteed and the standard mantra "that if it's too good to be true, then it's probably not real."

In particular the insurance industry practice of including return of principal as part of their yield calculation seems misleading at best; especially when applied to these yield-focused options contracts in the investment industry (I get that "insurance is dodgy, so buyer beware"). Total return is net capital appreciation and distributions, not including return of original principal.
