Investing - Theory, News & General • Article: What we lose when the world goes all-in on index investing

fun fact : half of MFS funds have underperformed their benchmarks the past 10 years despite having some of the best manager retention numbers. Its clear that they value long term investing goals and encouraging their managers to also value that but it just doesn't seem to be working out that well.

these articles are stupid because they talk about stock trading within the confines of OEF's or ETF's. which only make up 30% of the whole tradable market. so index investing only makes up 15 percent of the whole tradable market. and of that index market there are hundreds of various indexes you can invest into.

only buying growth stock indexes and avoiding value indexes is active trading.

These people whine about this bullcrap all the time. Sorry you are to blame MFS lady. you charge 1.3% to .7% ( well over the avg for active funds) expense ratios on funds that have a 50/50 chance of beating the category. it was probably 2X more expensive 30 years ago. you've had your time at the well. nobody is buying your sob story anymore.
