I stated my preference for Fidelity, above. But ANY of the three (Fidelity, Schwab or Vanguard) will be better than Ameriprise imo. Pick one, start the transfer and stop the AUM fee.
I prefer to have my portfolio at two brokerages in case of an account issue at one of them (I am retired so I don’t want any cash access issues). Since you have a 401k at Schwab, pick Fidelity if you prefer to split your portfolio or choose Schwab if you prefer to consolidate at one brokerage.
