Thank you for affirming my understanding.[... ] I might consider contacting the owners and letting them know that you are interested in their place but their agent will not let you tour it - or at least tell the agent that you intend to do so if they do not allow you to tour it.
I will consider the approach you described. Instantly getting off on the wrong foot with the listing agent is hard for me. I think I would just about rather move onto the next house than deal with this sort of realtor (who has to be "reminded" of what current NAR rules are and is likely not honoring his or her agreement with the seller).
