I have enough accounts and keep longer-term stuff well-distributed. I do use a Fidelity CMA as my day-to-day checking but I no longer deposit the rare check to Fidelity via their app due to too many problems (most recently, a deposit was rejected hours later for being “unsigned”. It was although it wasn’t all that dark but that told me the rejection was entirely automated with no human taking a second look. And since it was automated, why was the rejection not immediate. So I have no confidence in their app deposit system). I do have other places to deposit checks although annual checks received can be counted on one hand at this point.I use Fidelity only for my "checking" account. If something were to happen with a long hold or lockdown, I don't think it is the end of the world. I would be pissed for sure. My options:
1) My spouse has an account at a local bank. It is "their" account but my name is also on it and I can use it if I have to.
2) I can probably go online or to a local branch and in an hour open up a checking account.
3) If none of those works I could ask another family member or friend for short-term banking assistance.
If you are living paycheck to paycheck and money is tight I think the situation is different.
