With my CR-V, I change the synthetic oil every 5 to 6K. As it is a bit older, I check every 1,500 miles or so and top it off, if needed.

5 or 6k is likely overdoing it with good synthetic oil. I've been consistently sending oil for lab analysis: https://www.blackstone-labs.com/

According to the their analysis, none of our cars need oil change before 10k.

I have done many of these tests over the years (cars, diesels, inboards, outboards) and have learned very little from almost all of them.
In the end the tests cost more than changing the oil.
