For non-Medicare enrollees there are major changes for BCBS Basic and BCBS Standard on how they cover non-specialty, preferred name brand drugs (Tier 2). Instead of a co pay they are moving exclusively toward co-insurance which will put some people up to the $2100 annual prescription catastrophic limit if they had one to three such drugs. The annual prescription cat limit is raised from $2000 to $2100.

One action: Review when your name brand drug will come off patent and could be available as a generic so you know how long you'll have to keep paying for a name brand drug. Not an option for all, but could be for some. A lot of name brand drugs have patents expiring in the next few years.
